In Dancehall, multiple artists will record (voice) a song on the same beat which is called a riddim, the Jamaican Patois of the English word rhythm. ‘Lifestyle Riddim’ ruled the airwaves and Dancehalls in Jamaica and was undeniable the hottest ‘riddim’ of 2019. This Dancehall Riddims chart features the top five Dancehall rhythms out of Jamaica each week along with the top three songs on each rhythm. Demarco’ Slim A Wear and TeeJay’s One ft Bishop Escobar were both solid hits on the ‘riddim’ as well. The top three songs on the ‘riddim’ are Dem Nuh Ready by Vybz Kartel, Style by Chronic Law and Go Hard by Intence. Riddims are mainly used for Reggae, Dancehall, Soca, Lovers Rock, Dub and Raggamuffin music. The ‘riddim’ also featured songs from Vybz Kartel, Sean Paul, TeeJay, Chronic Law, Squash, Chi Chi Ching, Starface, Demarco, and Sikka Rhymes. Intence’s debut was “Go Hard”, which peaked at number 18 and made the charts over 12 weeks. I-Wata’s breakout debut single was “Cut Off Jeans”, which peaked at number 32 on our Top 40 Dancehall Singles Chart. Officially released on May 3, 2019, this ‘riddim’ immediately took over the airwaves and streets of Jamaica while introducing new artistes such as Intence and I-Waata.
